The Pulitzer Center offers global reporting grants to support in-depth and impactful journalism projects addressing important issues that receive insufficient media coverage.
The grant does not impose restrictions on the project topic or the country where the reporting will take place. Journalists may propose investigations and reports on humanitarian, social, economic, political, environmental, health, technological, and other issues.
Projects are accepted across different media platforms, including written journalism, photography, audio, video, short documentaries, and multimedia journalism. The program encourages projects that combine multiple journalistic formats and include a clear plan for reaching a broad audience.
Eligible Expenses
The grant may be used to cover direct costs necessary to carry out the project, including:
- Airfare and other travel expenses.
- Accommodation during the reporting period.
- Meals and reasonable daily expenses.
- Local transportation.
- Costs of obtaining records and documents.
- Data analysis and visual design.
- Fees for local journalistic partners.
- Fees for translators, drivers, and assistants.
- Rental of certain equipment, subject to approval.
- Hostile environment and safety training when required.
