UN Women in Palestine is offering a remote volunteering opportunity titled Storytelling, Writing and Content Development Support, aimed at individuals interested in writing, journalism, media, digital communication, and content creation who would like to contribute to highlighting the stories and experiences of Palestinian women and girls.
The volunteer will work with the UN Women communications team to develop human-interest stories and written content in both Arabic and English, based on virtual interviews and information from programmes implemented in Gaza and the West Bank. The resulting content will be used on the organization’s website and social media platforms.
The opportunity lasts for 12 weeks, with a commitment of 16 to 20 hours per week, and all tasks are carried out fully online, allowing the volunteer to contribute to United Nations activities without the need to relocate to a physical workplace.

Duties & responsibilities
- Conduct virtual interviews with beneficiaries and partners in Gaza and the West Bank in Arabic and/or English.
- Help develop human-interest stories, profiles, and other storytelling content.
- Write and edit communication materials in both Arabic and English.
- Identify compelling story angles, key messages, and important quotes from interviews.
- Transform interviews and programme information into engaging content for websites and social media.
- Adapt stories into different formats such as social media posts, captions, quote cards, and short video scripts.
- Contribute to copywriting, editing, and proofreading.
- Support UN Women’s communication and advocacy campaigns.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants are expected to:
- Have a background or academic studies in communications, journalism, media, languages, digital communication, or a related field.
- Possess strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills in both Arabic and English.
- Be able to identify compelling stories, key messages, and strong quotes.
- Have an interest in conducting interviews and developing human-interest stories.
- Be able to write clear and engaging content for different audiences.
- Have a good understanding of social media platforms and how to adapt stories for different digital channels.
- Demonstrate creativity and the ability to transform stories into various formats for websites, social media, and short-form content.
- Be able to work independently and remotely while meeting deadlines.
- Have fluency in Arabic.
- Have fluency in English.
- Familiarity with Canva, CapCut, or basic design and video-editing tools is considered an advantage, but is not mandatory.
