UNV offers a volunteer opportunityand announces its need for 5 online volunteers to apply their expertise to assist Morobe Development Foundation (MDF) in researching, writing, reviewing, and editing a manuscript in order to produce an impactful manuscript on pressing environmental issues related to climate change, forestry management, and conservation technology use in the Asia-Pacific region.
Role Division
- Online Volunteer 1 - Literature Review
- Conduct in-depth literature reviews on assigned climate-forest topics.
- Online Volunteer 2 - Manuscript Writing
- Draft sections of the background, methods, results, and conclusions.
- Online Volunteer 3 - Graphics Development
- Create relevant figures, tables, illustrations, and other graphics.
- Online Volunteer 4 - Copy Editing
- Edit for clarity, grammar, formatting, style, and continuity.
- Online Volunteer 5 - Peer Review
- Provide scientific review and critique of merits, approach, and accuracy.
Duties & responsibilities
- Provide research, writing, review, and editing support for a climate change and forestry-focused manuscript being developed by MDF. Specifically, the task will include:
- Conducting literature reviews on climate impacts on forests, regeneration methods, carbon management, and UAV uses.
- Drafting sections of the manuscript background, methods, results, and conclusions.
- Editing the full manuscript for continuity, clarity, grammar, formatting, and style.
- Verifying citations are properly formatted and supporting information accurately.
- Developing relevant figures, tables, illustrations, and other graphics.
- Providing peer review feedback on scientific soundness, merits, and areas for improvement.
Eligibility criteria
You must have:
- Research skills and familiarity with scientific literature review.
- Technical/scientific writing and editing experience.
- Knowledge of climate change impacts on forests.
- Understanding of forest regeneration, and carbon management.
- Scientific peer review skills.
- Ability to work 16 - 20 hours per week.
- English, Level: Mother tongue.
