Temple University, Japan Campus (TUJ) is the Japanese branch of Temple University (USA). It offers undergraduate and entry-year programs in Kyoto, combining the American academic system with the Japanese cultural environment, providing international students with a unique learning experience.
The Merit Scholarships are offered to new undergraduate students, including those entering through the Entry Year Program. These awards recognize outstanding academic achievement and may also consider recommendation letters or a scholarship essay. Several types are available, including the Diamond Scholarship, Dean’s Scholarship, enrollment fee reductions, and bridge program awards.
Application Deadline
For students starting in the summer or fall semesters, the usual deadline is October 15 prior to the start of the term.
Other scholarships have varying deadlines depending on the semester of entry, such as March 1, June 1, or February 1.
Benefits
Diamond Scholarship: 50% tuition reduction for the first two full-time semesters, renewable if the student maintains the required GPA.
Dean’s Scholarship: 50% tuition coverage for two consecutive semesters with academic performance conditions.
Additional awards include tuition fee discounts or reductions of enrollment fees.
Scholarships are applicable only at the Japan campus.
Eligibility criteria
Must be a new international student applying for an undergraduate program at Temple Japan or the Entry Year Program.
Must demonstrate strong academic performance (minimum GPA as required).
Must submit a complete application by the relevant deadline, including transcripts, recommendation letters (if requested), and a scholarship essay if required.
Must enroll full-time and maintain the required GPA to keep the scholarship.
