Opportunity description

Kaggle is calling innovators all over the world to a code competition; TensorFlow - Help Protect the Great Barrier Reef. The Great Barrier Reef Foundation established an innovation program to develop new survey and intervention methods to provide a step-change in COTS Control. However, it is eager to see your work that could help researchers identify species that are threatening Australia's Great Barrier Reef and take well-informed action to protect the reef for future generations. Be creative, and build an object detection model trained on underwater videos of coral reefs.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible to enter the Competition, you must be:

  1. A registered account holder at Kaggle.com.
  2. The older of 18 years old or the age of majority in your jurisdiction of residence.
  3. You can participate individually or in a team and the maximum team size is 5.
  4. Not a resident of Crimea, Cuba, Iran, Syria, or North Korea.
  5. Not a person or representative of an entity under U.S. export controls or sanctions.
  6. Privately sharing code or data outside of teams is not permitted. 
  7. You may submit a maximum of 5 entries per day.
  8. You may select up to 4 final submissions for judging.
  9. You must submit to this competition using the provided python time-series API.
  10. Freely & publicly available external data is allowed, including pre-trained models.
  11. Submissions to this competition must be made through Notebooks. 
  12. The submission file must be named submission.csv.
  13. Not infringes any third party proprietary rights, intellectual property rights, or any other rights.
  14. To be eligible for the TensorFlow prizes, your submission should:
  • Achieve a private leaderboard score better than or equal to the private leaderboard score of the Top 10% of teams on the private leaderboard. 
  • Use TensorFlow 2.X on GPU (training and inference).
  • You warrant that your Submission is your own original work.

Timeline:

  • November 22, 2021: Start Date.
  • February 7, 2022: Entry Deadline. 
  • February 7, 2022: Team Merger Deadline.
  • February 14, 2022: Final Submission Deadline.
