A Competition for Artists and a Chance to Win Great Prizes from Raed Cartoon

Raed Cartoon is calling artists all over the world to a competition; The 25th Gabrovo Biennial of Humour and Satire in Art 2022, Bulgaria that launch on the topic "Economy of Means". The economy of Means stands for a shift towards caring and maintenance instead of show business; for looking into society, but also looking at art, its modes of production, and means of expression. Just try to answer, Can the planetary imaginary be refueled with humor, satire, and conviviality? Be it to figure out how to go through collapse as humanly as possible, or to reconsider how much is enough and what constitutes good living. You can submit your work in two categories: 

• Contemporary art.
• Cartoons.

If you are among the winners, you will have:

• One of amazing prizes.
• Exhibit your work in the Museum’s collection.

You must follow these conditions: 

1. You should be over 18 years.
2. Each artist may enter no more than two words in a section (two works of contemporary art and/or two cartoons).
3. The selected works should correspond to the theme and be humorous.
4. The selected artists must send their original works by post (or deliver them in person at the Museum) within the indicated deadline.
5. The award-winning works become part of the Museum’s collection.
6. The cash prizes are subject to taxation in conformity with Bulgarian law.
7. The Museum reserves the right to reproduce the works on display and have them printed in its own and foreign publications, as well as on the internet.
8. Artists whose works are selected to be shown in the exhibitions should be ready to provide images with print quality for the catalog.
9. By submitting your works, you agree to the terms of this competition.
10. Depending on its type, each work may be visually represented with:

• up to 3 images, each one of which:
• Should not be larger than 5 MB, jpg, png, or tiff format.
• The long side of the image should be a minimum of 2500 px.
• A video that can be watched online at a URL provided by the artist.
• Animated cartoons (gif and flash) with a duration of up to 25 seconds (provided through a URL or file upload).

Timeline:

• 17th January 2022: Closing date for applications.
• 1 - 18 March 2022: The selected artists must submit works to the Museum of Humor and Satire in Gabrovo.
• The exhibition will run until 30th September 2022. 
• The works of all other artists will be returned from 01.10 to 30.11 2022 to the address specified by the artist.
• The prizes can be received no later than 31st December 2022.

Raed Cartoon is a website interested in the field of cartooning in addition to the artist's news and festivals all over the world, founded by the Syrian artist Raed Khalil. Raed Khalil is a Syrian cartoonist born in Syria on March 1, 1973 who started working in publications in 1988. As well, founded the website “Syria Cartoon” and founded the International Cartoon Competition in Syria in 2005.
