Opportunity description

The Fulbright Commission in Jordan offers the King Hussein Memorial Fulbright Scholarship for Jordanians who wish to pursue study or research in the United States in the field of conflict resolution. The scholarship aims to support students and researchers interested in peacebuilding, international relations, political science, law, social sciences, and other fields related to conflict resolution, in recognition of the contributions of His late Majesty King Hussein bin Talal to the promotion of peace.

The scholarship includes two main tracks: the Master’s degree track through the Fulbright Foreign Student Program, and the Visiting Scholar track through the Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program.

Eligibility criteria

  • The applicant must be a Jordanian citizen.
  • The applicant must be interested in studying or conducting research in a field related to conflict resolution.
  • The applicant must meet the requirements of the appropriate Fulbright program, whether the Master’s degree program or the Visiting Scholar program.

For the Master’s Degree Track:

  • The applicant must be residing in Jordan during the application, selection, and pre-departure preparation stages.
  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
  • The applicant must have a strong academic record suitable for graduate studies.
  • The applicant must have a strong level of English proficiency.
  • The applicant must be able to represent Jordan and contribute to strengthening cultural understanding between Jordan and the United States.

For the Visiting Scholar Track:

  • The applicant must hold a PhD degree or its professional equivalent.
  • The applicant must be engaged in teaching or research at a Jordanian university or research institution.
  • The applicant must have relevant research experience and suitable academic publications.
  • The applicant must have a good level of English proficiency appropriate for the research project.

Ineligibility:

  • Dual Jordanian-American citizens and holders of U.S. permanent residency are not eligible to apply.
  • Employees of the Fulbright Commission, the U.S. Embassy, or the U.S. Department of State, as well as their immediate family members, are not eligible to apply.
