The World Health Organization (WHO) is offering a national volunteer opportunity titled Public Health Specialist for a full-time position in Amman within the public health team. The role focuses on the intersection of health and climate change, health promotion, environmental health, and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH).
The assignment will last 12 months, with the possibility of extension, and is expected to begin on January 3, 2027.
The volunteer will support WHO programs aimed at developing health systems that are more resilient to climate change, preparing national health and climate plans and policies, developing awareness materials in both Arabic and English, delivering training activities, and collaborating with youth, community organizations, and government entities.

Duties & responsibilities
Support the integration of health, climate change, and climate-resilient WASH into assessments and plans for healthcare facilities.
Contribute to the development of policies, health adaptation plans, and heatwave response plans.
Develop awareness materials and deliver training sessions and orientation activities on climate change, health, and health promotion.
Engage youth, community-based organizations, and volunteers, and support the implementation and monitoring of action plan activities.
Prepare progress reports, donor reports, meeting minutes, success stories, and digital content.
Eligibility criteria
Be between 18 and 60 years old.
Hold a bachelor’s degree in health, public health, or a related field.
Have at least 3 years of professional experience in public health, health promotion, environmental health, climate change, or a related field.
Be fluent in both Arabic and English.
Have experience implementing programs or projects with government institutions, the United Nations, or non-governmental organizations.
Knowledge of the Jordanian health system and relevant national institutions is considered an advantage.
Applicants must be Jordanian citizens, legal residents, or refugees in Jordan.
