UN Volunteers platform is offering a volunteer opportunity with UNMISS in Juba, South Sudan as an Administrative Officer. To promote and maintain the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of staff members through the provision of integrated quality healthcare services to the personnel of United Nations Mission in South Sudan and UN Agencies, Funds and Programmes.
Volunteer duration:
3 months.
Duties & responsibilities
Under the general supervision of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO)/Deputy Chief Medical Officer (DCMO), the incumbent will perform the following duties:
- Provide of administrative and human resources support to staff of the service. Support recruitment and talent acquisition processes. Assist with workforce planning and development for UNV recruitment.
- Provide information needed to respond to audit findings.
- Provide support with respect to the elaboration of resource requirements for budget submissions, and preparation of cost plans.
- Respond to internal/external audit observations; Ensure that accurate and complete accounting, reporting and internal control systems are functioning and that all relevant records are maintained.
- Provide authoritative interpretation of requirements for handling transactions.
Eligibility criteria
- Age: 18 - 80
- Required experience: 3 years
- Nationality: Candidate must be a national of a country other than the country of assignment.
- Languages: English, Level: Fluent, Required
- Required education level: Bachelor degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources, Finance, Accounting, or related field
- Skills and experience:
- A minimum of three (03) years of progressively responsible professional experience in administration, accounting, finance, budget, human resources or related area is required. Experience handling administration, finance and human resources matters in an International Organization or similar organization is desirable.
- Experience in working with Umoja Finance Module or the finance functions of another Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is desirable
- Experienced in UN mission or another international agency is desirable.
- Solid computer skills, including full proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word etc.) and other IT applications and office technology equipment.
- Have affinity with or interest in humanitarian relief, post-conflict situations, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.
- Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners.
- Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel.
- Ability to work with tight deadlines.
- Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Sound security awareness.
