Opportunity description
The Moth magazine is calling everyone who has the talent and passion for writing to participate in a writing competition about nature. The Moth Nature Writing Prize aims to encourage and celebrate the art of nature writing. It is awarded annually to an unpublished piece of prose or poetry that best combines exceptional literary merit with an exploration of the writer’s relationship with the natural world.
Benefits
If you win the award, you will have:
- €1,000.
- a week at Circle of Misse in France.
Eligibility criteria
You should follow the following criteria:
- You must over the age of sixteen.
- The work is original and previously unpublished.
- You can enter as many pieces as you like.
Please note:
- The entry fee is €15 per entry.
- The judge for the prize this year is Helen Macdonald who is a writer, poet, naturalist, and historian of science.

Founded in June 2010, The Moth is a quarterly printed arts & literature magazine featuring poetry, short fiction, and art by established and up-and-coming writers and artists. The Moth appears in March, June, September, and December.
