Opportunity description
Applications are open for the Yale Drama Series International Playwriting Competition 2026. The Yale Drama Series is an annual, international competition for emerging playwrights, funded by generous support from the David Charles Horn Foundation. The winning play will be selected by the series’ current judge, Branden Jacobs-Jenkins.
The winner of this annual competition will be awarded the David Charles Horn Prize of $10,000, publication of their manuscript by Yale University Press, and a staged reading at the Schwarzman Center at Yale University.
Eligibility Criteria:
- The contest is open to plays written in the English language.
- Original, unpublished full-length plays with a minimum of 65 pages are eligible.
- Translations, adaptations, musicals, and children’s plays are not accepted.
- The competition supports emerging playwrights only.
- Plays that have been professionally produced or published are not eligible.
Benefits
- $10,000 cash award.
