The Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development presents the Green Voices Challenge to young men and women in the Arab world interested in climate change issues, by submitting their work using online media, such as articles, blogs, videos or vlogs on the topic. Climate change affects our health, our economy, our food supply, our safety and the environment in which we live, so this competition aims to support young men and women in the Arab region to enhance their participation in the debate on climate change.

- Social projects.
- Youth participation and initiatives.
- Public and private sector projects.
- Green jobs and the green economy.
Benefits
The content will be evaluated based on several indicators, such as: creativity and innovation in the content and its ability to reach the audience, the amount of published content, diversity in content images and forms, the frequency of content publication, and the number of times it is shared by the audience. Then the prizes will be distributed as follows:
- First prize: 300 euros.
- Second prize: 200 euros.
- The 10 finalists (out of 15 finalists) will have the opportunity to:
- Expand their network and visibility through global networking opportunities.
- Obtaining an official certificate acknowledging their contribution to the training and skills gained from it.
- The opportunity to participate in a side event to be held on the sidelines of the United Nations Climate Change Conference for two days in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.
- Expand their reach by publishing their media products on the media channels of project partners.
Eligibility criteria
- Those interested in the media content industry, passionate about the environment and climate and/or actors in environmental change issues with media knowledge, and experience in writing, blogging, vlogging and video production.
- Age between 18 and 30 years old.
- To be citizens of Jordan, Palestine, Egypt, Lebanon and Yemen, or residing in them.
- Practical knowledge of English.
- To be active on social media.
- Having an email on the Gmail platform to facilitate communication with coaches and other participants.
- Possession of a valid passport/travel document.
- Each participant can submit only one entry.
- Entries containing hate speech, foul language, or any copied content not produced by the applicant will be disqualified.
- The top 10 finalists agree to use their name and photo in any promotional material, as well as to publish their winning entries.
Travel rules:
- Responsibility for obtaining the entry/visa rests with the selected participants, and the organizers of the competition shall not bear any responsibility for this.
- The travel of participants is subject to the provisions and laws of the host country of the event and/or any other relevant country.
- Participants must confirm their ability to travel and/or their need to obtain a visa if required to do so in accordance with the rules and laws of the host country and ensure that there are no obstacles to travel before a specified period. On the contrary, the participants lose their opportunity to travel and the organization has the right to choose other participants for that without bearing any responsibility on the organizers.

- Reliability: The participant introduces a new topic that resonates among young people that did not receive appropriate coverage in the media, or that the angle of its treatment is new.
- Clarity of ideas: The participant clearly demonstrates the extent of his understanding of the topic and its impact on society and youth.
- Creativity: Presenting the material in an innovative and convincing way, with a thoughtful approach to the topic from the perspective of young people.
- Technical Quality: The submitted article, video, or multimedia file must demonstrate high levels of skills and techniques. Submissions must also take into account social media technologies, and the image resolution must be appropriate for publication without drastic modifications.
- Potential Impact: The material should touch the audience, get them excited, and get them to participate in the debate on climate change.
- Reach: The level at which a media maker or activist is successful in reaching and engaging young people on the issue of climate change in the MENA region.

Founded in 2008 in Amman-Jordan, Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development (ARDD) is a Civil Society Organization seeking to reinitiate a new Nahda (Arab Renaissance) project to contribute in addressing the challenges faced by the Arab World, building on the achievements and ideas of the Arab Nahda and aiming to open the doors for future participation in formulating concrete actions to achieve the desired change and development. ARDD supports marginalized individuals and communities—including refugees and migrants— in acquiring and enjoying their social, political and economic rights, through legal aid, psychosocial support, media and grassroots mobilization, and research and advocacy to raise stakeholders’ awareness locally, regionally and internationally about the challenges that vulnerable persons face in Jordan and the Arab Region.
