About the organization

Public Citizen is a nonprofit consumer advocacy organization that champions the public interest in the halls of power. It defends democracy, resists corporate power and works to ensure that the government works for the people – not for big corporations. Founded in 1971, Public Citizen now has 500,000 members. Public Citizen takes no government or corporate money, which enables it to remain fiercely independent and call out bad actors – no matter who they are or how much power and money they have.
