edXAbout the Course
edX platform is offering a free online course entitled "A Hands-on Introduction to Engineering Simulations". During this course, the learner will gain some important professional skills that employers are looking for and he will learn how to analyze real-world engineering problems using ANSYS simulation software.
Prerequisites:
- High school physics including Newton's second law.
- Differential and integral calculus.
- Basic matrix algebra.
Duration:
The course lasts for 6 Weeks, 4–6 hours per week.
About This Course:
- By joining this course, you will have access to a free download of ANSYS Student.
- In this hands-on course, you'll learn how to perform engineering simulations using a powerful tool from ANSYS, Inc. This is a problem-based course where you'll learn by doing. You'll practice using a common solution approach to problems involving different physics: structural mechanics, fluid dynamics and heat transfer.
- You'll solve textbook examples to understand the fundamental principles of finite-element analysis and computational fluid dynamics. Then you will apply these principles in simulations using the program.
Learning Outcome:
Students will learn the following:
- Big ideas in finite-element analysis and computational fluid dynamics.
- Fluid dynamics simulations using ANSYS Fluent.
- Structural mechanics simulations using ANSYS Mechanical.
- Mathematical models underlying simulations.
- Building simulations of real-world applications using ANSYS® software.
- Verification and validation of simulations including checking against hand calculations.
- How to approach engineering analysis and simulations like an expert.
Course Fees:
There are no fees for enrolling or studying the course, but there is a choice for the student to seek a verified certificate of completion of the course for $199, which is characterized by:
- Receive an instructor-signed certificate with the institution's logo to verify your achievement and increase your job prospects.
- Add the certificate to your CV or resume, or post it directly on LinkedIn.
- Give yourself an additional incentive to complete the course.
- EdX, a non-profit, relies on verified certificates to help fund free education for everyone globally.
