Opportunity description

Sabancı University invites full-time doctoral students to apply for its Erasmus+ short-term PhD internship mobility for the 2026-2027 academic year. Participants can complete a relevant internship abroad for 5 to 30 days at a university, company, research institute, laboratory, organization or other appropriate workplace. Applications close on November 5, 2026, at 16:00.

About the Erasmus+ PhD Internship Mobility

The mobility is intended to help doctoral candidates address learning and training needs through work experience, general skills development or research experience directly related to their doctoral studies. Eligible activities may include fieldwork, gathering data and collecting materials needed for a thesis. The host can be located anywhere in the world, in either an Erasmus+ program country or a non-program country. Attendance at conferences and symposiums is not eligible as the activity for this short-term doctoral mobility, although students may attend relevant events independently of the mobility.

The call provides 10 places for mobility to European countries and 3 places for non-European countries. The activity must last at least 5 days and no more than 30 days, and mobility must be completed by July 31, 2027. Individual support grants also cover one travel day before and one after the activity; the page does not state the grant amount. Results are announced during the week following the application deadline. Candidates are ranked by score within the available grant budget. If the budget cannot cover all applicants, participation without a grant may be possible.

Academic achievement accounts for 50% of the placement score, and language proficiency accounts for the other 50%, based on the exam result submitted during university admission. Additional points are available in specified cases, including financial aid from AFAD received by the candidate or a first-degree relative, being a child of a martyr or veteran, disability, and protection under Child Protection Law No. 5395. Internships that develop digital skills receive priority points. Point deductions apply in specified cases, including mobility in the candidate’s country of citizenship, cancellation without a valid reason and simultaneous applications for two mobility types.

Before mobility, selected students must prepare a Learning Agreement for Traineeship based on mutual agreement among the student, host institution and department. It is prepared digitally, signed by the Erasmus Academic Advisor and submitted to the International Relations Office (IRO); the host institution must also sign it. The IRO prepares the Grant Agreement. Participants must have health, liability and accident insurance. The host institution may provide the insurance; otherwise, students must obtain the policies, with insurer names and policy numbers recorded in the Grant Agreement. After mobility, participants must complete the Certificate of Participation, the post-mobility Learning Agreement for Traineeship, boarding passes and the Online EU Survey.
