The Westminster School – Dubai, part of GEMS Education, is offering a full-time position for a Physical Education Teacher – Maternity Cover in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The position is aimed at experienced Physical Education teachers who are interested in teaching primary school students following the British curriculum, with a focus on developing students’ physical fitness, motor skills, confidence, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
The teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering Physical Education lessons for Key Stage 2 students, monitoring their progress, and creating a safe and inclusive learning environment that encourages all students to participate and stay physically active.

Duties & responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and delivering engaging Physical Education lessons appropriate to students’ ability levels.
- Implementing the requirements of the British Curriculum in Physical Education.
- Developing students’ physical skills, coordination, fitness, and confidence.
- Introducing students to a wide range of sports and physical activities.
- Adapting activities to meet the needs of students with different abilities and learning requirements.
- Providing a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
- Using a variety of teaching strategies to encourage student participation.
- Promoting the values of teamwork, leadership, resilience, respect, and sportsmanship.
- Assessing student progress and using assessment results to improve teaching plans.
- Providing feedback that helps students improve their performance.
- Ensuring appropriate progression of skills and knowledge across Key Stage 2.
- Carrying out the necessary risk assessments for sports activities and facilities.
- Ensuring the safe use of sports equipment and facilities.
- Complying with the school’s safeguarding, health and safety, and behavior policies.
- Maintaining continuous supervision of students during sports activities.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must have:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physical Education.
- More than two years of professional experience.
- A good understanding of the principles and requirements of the British Curriculum for Physical Education at Key Stage 2.
- The ability to manage the classroom and student behavior effectively.
- The ability to adapt lessons to meet different student needs.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding children and promoting their safety and well-being.
- The ability to work and collaborate effectively as part of a professional team.
