International Job Opportunity with UNICEF Jordan in the Field of Education in Emergencies

UNICEF – United Nations Children’s Fund is offering an international job opportunity in Amman, Jordan for the position of Senior Adviser Education (Education in Emergencies) at the P-5 level, within the Global Programme Division – Centre of Excellence.

The role focuses on leading UNICEF’s global efforts in Education in Emergencies (EiE) and supporting children and adolescents affected by conflict, displacement, disasters, and climate-related crises. Responsibilities include developing policies, strategies, standards, and technical guidance, as well as providing support to UNICEF regional and country offices.

• Provide global strategic and technical leadership in Education in Emergencies.
• Develop global policies, strategies, standards, and guidance for education in humanitarian contexts.
• Provide technical advice and support to UNICEF regional and country offices.
• Lead efforts to improve the quality of education programs in crisis and conflict settings.
• Support emergency preparedness and response in the education sector.
• Build strategic partnerships with governments, UN agencies, international organizations, and other key stakeholders.
• Influence global policies and agendas related to Education in Emergencies.
• Support resource mobilization and funding efforts for education programs.
• Promote innovation, knowledge management, evidence generation, and research.
• Support coordination among agencies and organizations working in humanitarian education.
• Contribute to ensuring that children and adolescents have access to safe, inclusive, and high-quality education during emergencies and crises.

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Hold a master’s degree or equivalent advanced university degree in one of the following fields:
  • Education policy and planning.
  • Education in Emergencies.
  • Humanitarian affairs or humanitarian assistance.
  • Public policy.
  • Conflict or peace studies.
  • Crisis response.
  • Educational planning.
• Have at least 10 years of professional experience at both national and international levels.
• Demonstrate strong experience in developing, implementing, and supporting education programs and policies.
• Have substantial experience in strategic planning for emergencies and crisis situations.
• Demonstrate clear leadership experience in Education in Emergencies (EiE).
• Possess strong skills in policy advisory, humanitarian coordination, partnership management, and resource mobilization.
• Be fluent in English.
