The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is accepting applications for the position of Senior Project Associate in Tunis, Tunisia, within the IOM Tunisia office, under a special short-term contract of up to 9 months, with an initial contract duration of 6 months.
This opportunity is suitable for professionals with experience in project management, monitoring and evaluation, partner coordination, reporting, data analysis, migration and development, and human rights. The selected candidate will work within IOM Tunisia’s Regular Pathways portfolio, which aims to facilitate skills mobility and strengthen the protection of migrant workers in North Africa.
The programme focuses on supporting the development and implementation of inclusive labour migration policies and governance frameworks that align with human rights and international labour standards, while using data and evidence to promote fair, effective, and sustainable labour migration management.
Duties & responsibilities
- Assist in planning, coordinating, implementing, and monitoring project activities.
- Collect, summarize, analyze, and present data and information related to project topics.
- Identify important issues and escalate them to the relevant stakeholders.
- Monitor project budget implementation and propose adjustments when needed.
- Serve as a focal point for administrative coordination related to project implementation.
- Liaise with internal units and external partners to obtain approvals and follow up on procedures.
- Prepare periodic reports on project implementation progress, identify gaps, and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare correspondence, reports, briefing notes, charts, statistical tables, and other relevant documents.
- Organize meetings, workshops, and training sessions.
- Prepare training materials and contribute to the delivery of capacity-building workshops.
- Respond to complex requests for information and inquiries.
- Create and maintain project files and records.
- Participate in meetings and conferences.
- Coordinate with local authorities, partners, United Nations agencies, governmental and non-governmental organizations, and donors.
- Monitor the work of implementing partners and report any cases of non-compliance.
- Contribute to the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and concept notes.
- Support the development of new projects and initiatives.
- Provide guidance and training to other staff members.
- Assist in coordinating and monitoring the work of team members, and the position may include supervising other staff when assigned.
- Perform any other related duties as required.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants may qualify through one of the following pathways:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or a related field, with 4 years of relevant professional experience.
- Or hold a high school diploma with 6 years of relevant professional experience.
- Have experience coordinating with government authorities, national and international institutions, United Nations agencies, and non-governmental organizations.
- Have experience working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of human trafficking, or vulnerable populations.
- Previous experience with international humanitarian organizations, government institutions, or NGOs in a multicultural environment is considered an asset.
- Be proficient in spoken and written English, Arabic, and French.
