Opportunity description

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is accepting applications for a job opportunity in Türkiye under a project aimed at creating employment opportunities, promoting economic and social inclusion, and supporting the transition to formal employment.

The selected candidate will work under the supervision of the Senior Programme Coordinator in Ankara and will contribute to planning, implementing, and monitoring project activities. The role also includes supporting administrative coordination, monitoring budgets, preparing reports, and organizing meetings, workshops, and training sessions.

This opportunity is suitable for professionals with backgrounds in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields, particularly those with practical experience in project management, migration programs, or working with refugees, migrants, and vulnerable populations.

Duties & responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the planning, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of project activities.
  • Collecting, analyzing, and summarizing project-related data and information.
  • Monitoring budget implementation and proposing adjustments when needed.
  • Providing administrative coordination with different units and partners.
  • Preparing progress reports, identifying gaps or shortcomings, and recommending corrective actions.
  • Drafting correspondence, memoranda, reports, and statistical tables.
  • Organizing meetings, workshops, and training sessions.
  • Preparing training materials and participating in capacity-building activities.
  • Following up on complex inquiries and requests and maintaining records and files.
  • Participating in meetings and conferences and coordinating with local authorities, international organizations, United Nations agencies, NGOs, and donors.
  • Monitoring the work of implementing partners and reporting any cases of non-compliance.
  • Contributing to the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and concept notes.
  • Supporting the development of new projects and programs.
  • Providing guidance and training to staff and assisting with team coordination.
  • Supervising other staff members when assigned.

Eligibility criteria

  • Hold a high school diploma with 6 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with 4 years of relevant professional experience.
  • If applying with a Bachelor’s degree, the field of study must be Political Science, Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or a related field.
  • Have experience in coordinating with government authorities, national and international institutions, United Nations agencies, or NGOs, preferably in the field of migration.
  • Have experience working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of human trafficking, or other vulnerable groups.
  • Have good knowledge of migration management, labor migration and livelihoods, as well as project and programme management.
  • Be proficient in English and Turkish, both spoken and written. Knowledge of Arabic is considered an advantage.
  • Possess strong analytical, organizational, communication, report-writing, and computer skills.
  • Meet the residency, visa, and legal permit requirements necessary for employment in Türkiye.
