The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has opened applications for an Evaluation Officer (NO-2) position at its office in Amman, Jordan, within the field of research, planning, monitoring, and evaluation.
The selected candidate will be responsible for supporting and coordinating the planning, design, implementation, and follow-up of evaluations for UNICEF programmes in Jordan, helping the organization measure programme results, improve the quality of interventions, and use evidence and data to inform decision-making.
The role includes evaluating UNICEF programmes in areas such as child protection, education, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), health and nutrition, youth and adolescents, and social protection, while also strengthening a culture of evaluation and evidence use within the UNICEF office and among national partner institutions.

Duties & responsibilities
The position focuses on four main areas:
- Planning, managing, and implementing evaluations of UNICEF programmes.
- Contributing to the design and implementation of evaluations and ensuring their quality.
- Promoting the use of evaluation findings to improve programmes and support decision-making.
- Coordinating, building networks, and contributing to evaluation capacity development at the national and sub-national levels.
The role also includes:
- Managing the planning, design, implementation, and follow-up of evaluations across the UNICEF Jordan Country Office.
- Coordinating with other agencies and local and international stakeholders.
- Ensuring compliance with the UNICEF Evaluation Policy, as well as evaluation standards, procedures, and ethical requirements.
- Working in accordance with United Nations Evaluation Group (UNEG) standards.
- Supporting knowledge management and the dissemination of good practices related to the use of evaluation.
- Strengthening a culture of evaluation and evidence use within the office and among partners.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in one of the following fields:
- Humanities.
- Social Sciences.
- Development Economics.
- Statistics.
- Public Administration.
- Performance Management.
- Monitoring and Evaluation.
- Or another related field.
- A specialized certification or professional qualification in Evaluation is considered a strong advantage.
- Have at least 2 years of professional experience supporting or conducting equity-focused evaluations, or managing an evaluation function at the national or international level.
- Have technical knowledge and experience in:
- Programme evaluation.
- Evaluation design.
- Data analysis.
- Report writing.
- Have experience managing evaluations.
- Possess strong analytical skills.
- Be able to clearly analyze and synthesize qualitative and quantitative data.
