UNICEF Morocco is offering an international consultancy opportunity for an International Consultant for WASH and Climate-Resilient Social Services, based in Rabat, Morocco, for 1.5 months, with travel as required by the assignment.
The consultant will support UNICEF programs related to water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), education, health, and climate-resilient social services. The assignment focuses on developing a range of specialized technical outputs, including national standards and technical guidance, implementation, training and monitoring tools, reviewing the quality of field activities, and preparing technical products linked to donor-funded initiatives.

Duties & responsibilities
Develop and finalize national technical standards and guidelines related to water, sanitation, and hygiene.
Prepare tools to support implementation, training, monitoring, and follow-up.
Contribute to the review and quality assurance of WASH-related field activities.
Support the development and improvement of water and sanitation services in schools and healthcare facilities.
Integrate climate risk, adaptation, and resilience considerations into programs and social services.
Support coordination with government institutions and technical partners.
Contribute to the preparation and review of technical products related to donor-funded projects.
Participate in collaborative technical reviews and validation processes for the developed standards and tools.
Eligibility criteria
Hold a master’s degree in one of the following fields or another directly related discipline:
Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)
Public Health
Environmental Health
Civil or Environmental Engineering
Climate Change
Environmental Sciences
Education
Public Policy
International Development
Have at least 6 years of professional experience in WASH.
Demonstrate strong experience in institutional WASH services, particularly in schools and/or healthcare facilities.
Have experience developing, adapting, or implementing technical standards, guidelines, assessment tools, and national implementation frameworks.
Have experience using WASH FIT or a similar approach to improve the quality of WASH services in healthcare facilities.
Have experience integrating climate risks, adaptation, and resilience into WASH, education, health, or other social-sector programs.
Have experience in monitoring, field quality assurance, partner coordination, and preparing or reviewing donor proposals and reports.
Have experience working with government institutions and organizing participatory technical review and validation processes.
Be fluent in Arabic.
Have a working knowledge of English or French.
Fluency in both English and French is considered a strong advantage.
Previous experience in Morocco or the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region is considered an additional advantage.
Familiarity with UNICEF working methods, results-based management, child rights, and donor requirements is considered an additional asset.
