UNICEF – United Nations Children’s Fund is offering a job opportunity in Port Sudan, Sudan for the position of Social Policy Officer (Financial Inclusion and Livelihoods) within the Social Policy Section.
The role focuses on supporting programs related to social protection, financial inclusion, livelihoods, and cash transfers, while helping connect beneficiaries to safe and inclusive financial services and opportunities to strengthen income and skills. Particular attention is given to women, children, and the most vulnerable groups.
The officer will work closely with government counterparts, financial service providers, partner organizations, and different UNICEF teams to support the implementation of more effective, sustainable, and crisis-responsive social protection programs.

Duties & responsibilities
- Support the design and implementation of financial inclusion and livelihoods components within social protection and cash transfer programs.
- Integrate financial literacy, savings, and responsible financial behavior into program activities.
- Support the assessment, selection, and monitoring of financial service providers, including:
- Banks.
- Mobile money services.
- Digital payment platforms.
- Promote safe and inclusive access for women and vulnerable groups to financial accounts and digital payment methods.
- Link beneficiaries with skills development programs and income-generating opportunities.
- Coordinate with government entities and partners to support the transition from cash assistance toward long-term economic resilience.
- Integrate protection considerations, gender-based violence risks, and child protection measures into programs.
- Support grievance and complaint mechanisms related to payments and financial services.
- Contribute to monitoring and analyzing financial inclusion and livelihoods outcomes.
- Prepare donor reports and document lessons learned.
- Support capacity building for partners and field teams in financial inclusion, livelihoods, and cash transfer programming.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in one of the following fields:
- Social sciences.
- Economics.
- Development studies.
- Public relations or communications.
- Social services.
- Social policy.
- Public policy.
- Finance.
- Social protection.
- Or another relevant field.
- Have at least 2 years of professional experience in:
- Social protection.
- Financial inclusion.
- Livelihoods.
- Cash transfer programs.
- Or related fields.
- Have experience working with government entities, NGOs, or international organizations.
- Have experience or knowledge in financial literacy, financial services, multidisciplinary programs, and risk management.
- Possess good writing skills.
- Be fluent in both Arabic and English.
