The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) has opened applications for a job opportunity in Damascus, Syria, in the field of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
The selected candidate will support the design and development of educational and vocational programs and curricula, deliver training in classrooms, laboratories, and workshops, assess trainees, align training programs with labor market needs, and support the digital and green transformation of technical and vocational education and training.
The position is offered as a paid daily assignment for up to 3 months, with the possibility of extension, subject to the availability of funding, satisfactory performance, and continued operational need.

Duties & responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Contributing to the design and development of educational and vocational programs and curricula.
- Conducting and supporting analyses of occupational skills and competencies.
- Preparing program profiles, learning guides, and manuals.
- Integrating modern and emerging technologies into education and training programs.
- Preparing training venues and facilities and identifying the equipment required.
- Developing lesson and training plans.
- Managing and facilitating learning in classrooms, laboratories, and workshops.
- Applying adult learning strategies.
- Supporting the inclusion of trainees with disabilities and special educational needs.
- Integrating life skills, employability skills, and occupational health and safety into training.
- Preparing theoretical and practical tests and assessments for students.
- Communicating with employers and trainers and collecting labor market information.
- Supporting studies on skills needs and gaps.
- Applying quality assurance tools and procedures throughout all stages of training.
- Supporting digital and green transformation initiatives in vocational education.
- Collaborating with trainers and faculty members while maintaining discipline and safety within the training center.
Eligibility criteria
According to the attached announcement, the confirmed eligibility requirements include:
- The applicant must be residing in Syria.
- The applicant must live within a reasonable commuting distance from the duty station in Damascus.
- The applicant must hold a valid work permit in Syria at the time of application.
- UNRWA does not issue or facilitate work permits; an appointment may be withdrawn if a valid work permit is not available.
- Proficiency in Arabic at Level II under the UN Language Framework in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
- Proficiency in English at Level II as well.
- Commitment to the United Nations core values, including integrity, professionalism, and respect for diversity, in addition to competencies in communication, planning and organizing, creativity, and applying technical expertise.
- The position is open to both internal and external applicants.
