Leadership Position with UNICEF in Morocco as Deputy Representative for Programmes

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has opened applications for the position of Deputy Representative Programme at its office in Rabat, Morocco, at the P-4 level.

This is a senior leadership position within the UNICEF Morocco Country Office. The selected candidate will support the Representative in managing the country programme, planning and developing programmes, monitoring quality and results, building partnerships, and coordinating with the United Nations system as well as the public and private sectors.

The Deputy Representative also contributes to leading programmes from the planning stage through to the achievement of results, ensuring alignment with UNICEF’s strategic plans and standards of performance, accountability, and integrity. In humanitarian or fragile contexts, the role also contributes to ensuring an effective and timely humanitarian response.

The main areas of responsibility include:

• Planning and developing programmes for the UNICEF Morocco Country Office.
• Supporting the UNICEF Representative in managing the country office.
• Monitoring programmes and ensuring quality and the achievement of results.
• Building alliances and partnerships and coordinating with United Nations agencies.
• Developing partnerships with the private and public sectors.
• Supporting innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building.
• Leading and coordinating different programme teams.
• Supporting strategic partnerships and advocacy at the national level.
• Ensuring an effective response in humanitarian and fragile contexts when needed.

Applicants must hold an advanced university degree, such as a Master’s degree or equivalent, in one of the following fields:

• Social Sciences.
• International Relations.
• Government and Public Relations.
• Public or Social Policy.
• Sociology.
• Social or Community Development.
• Or another relevant technical field.

Applicants must also have:

• At least 8 years of professional experience in development.
• Experience combining technical and managerial leadership in international development cooperation.
• Part of their experience gained in a middle-income developing country context.
• Proven experience in building and managing strategic partnerships.
• Strong experience in policy analysis and programme design related to systems strengthening.
• A proven track record of leading and working with strong and diverse teams.
• The ability to negotiate with government ministries and influential stakeholders.
