GEMS Wellington School – Qatar in Doha is hiring a full-time Maths Teacher to join its secondary mathematics team, with the position starting in January 2027.

The school is looking for a mathematics teacher with strong experience teaching within the British curriculum, who is able to deliver high-quality instruction and support students in reaching their full academic potential.

The role includes teaching mathematics to GCSE/IGCSE and A Level students, contributing to an inclusive and engaging learning environment, and participating in school activities and students’ academic development.

Duties & responsibilities

  • Teach Mathematics to secondary school students following the British curriculum.
  • Deliver GCSE/IGCSE and A Level Mathematics courses.
  • Plan and deliver effective lessons that help students achieve their best academic outcomes.
  • Use proven and effective teaching methods while remaining open to adopting new educational approaches.
  • Monitor student progress and work to improve academic attainment.
  • Create an inclusive and engaging learning environment that supports all students.
  • Maintain high academic standards and expectations in the classroom.
  • Collaborate with members of the mathematics department and other teachers across the school.
  • Participate in school and extracurricular activities and support students’ overall development.
  • Follow the Teach Like a GEM approach and GEMS-approved teaching practices.
  • Take part in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
  • Comply with the school’s policies on child safeguarding and student safety.

Eligibility criteria

Applicants should have:

  • A relevant degree in education or mathematics teaching.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Previous experience working in a British curriculum school.
  • Experience teaching GCSE/IGCSE Mathematics.
  • Experience teaching A Level Mathematics.
  • More than two years of professional experience.
  • The ability to use modern and effective teaching methods.
  • A commitment to providing an inclusive learning environment for all students.
  • The ability to work under pressure while maintaining high academic standards.
  • A strong interest in continuous professional development.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to school and extracurricular activities.
