The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has opened applications for the position of Project Associate (Admin and Finance) in Algiers, Algeria, under the Justice and Rule of Law Programme. The position is open to both internal and external applicants, is full-time, at the NPSA-7 level, with a one-year contract.
The position is part of a group of UNDP projects implemented in cooperation with Algerian government institutions and focuses on strengthening access to justice, the rule of law, human rights, social reintegration, supporting women judges, and promoting gender equality.
The selected candidate will be responsible for providing administrative, financial, and operational support to the projects, including monitoring activities, budgets, procurement, reporting, and coordination with partners, while ensuring compliance with UNDP policies and procedures.

Duties & responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Monitoring the day-to-day implementation of projects in accordance with work plans and targeted results.
- Contributing to the preparation of quarterly and annual reports and following up to ensure their timely submission.
- Managing, maintaining, and archiving project documents.
- Preparing administrative correspondence and internal memos.
- Providing logistical and administrative support for meetings, workshops, training sessions, and events.
- Participating in project coordination meetings and following up on resulting decisions and action points.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Hold at least a secondary education diploma.
- Applicants may also hold a Bachelor’s/Licence degree in one of the following fields:
- Social Sciences.
- Administration.
- Management.
- Or a related field.
A university degree is considered an advantage but is not mandatory.
- Have at least 7 years of relevant experience if applying with a secondary education diploma.
- Or have at least 4 years of relevant experience if holding a Bachelor’s/Licence degree.
- Relevant experience should be in one or more of the following areas:
- Administration.
- Finance.
- Procurement.
- Accounting.
- Or related professional fields.
- Have excellent skills in using Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
- Have proven experience in project management and financial administration, including preparing budgets, annual work plans, procurement processes, and financial reports.
- Be able to process and monitor financial transactions, analyze budgets, and track expenditures.
- Be able to maintain accurate records and comply with institutional policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.
- Be fluent in Arabic and French.
- Knowledge of English is considered an advantage.
- Previous experience in development projects or with UNDP, the United Nations system, international organizations, or NGOs is considered a strong asset.
- Knowledge and experience related to gender issues and gender equality are considered an additional advantage.
