Opportunity description

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has opened applications for the position of Communication Officer (NO-2) under a fixed-term appointment in Ankara, Türkiye.

The Communication Officer will work within UNICEF’s Türkiye Country Office and support the implementation of the organization’s communication and advocacy strategy. The role aims to raise awareness of issues affecting children and women, increase support for UNICEF programs, strengthen the organization’s media presence, and build effective partnerships with media outlets and other institutions.

The position includes planning and implementing media campaigns, producing content, managing media relations, organizing events, and monitoring the results of communication activities to ensure that UNICEF’s messages reach different target audiences.

Duties & responsibilities

The main responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to the development and implementation of UNICEF’s communication and advocacy strategy.
  • Producing and managing media and communication materials.
  • Preparing news articles, human-interest stories, and media content.
  • Building and managing relationships with media outlets and journalists.
  • Supporting UNICEF’s national, regional, and global campaigns.
  • Monitoring and evaluating communication activities and preparing reports.
  • Organizing events and media activities.
  • Coordinating with government entities, United Nations partners, and other organizations.
  • Overseeing the production of media materials and ensuring their quality.
  • Supporting fundraising efforts and strengthening UNICEF’s institutional image.

Eligibility criteria

Applicants must:

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in:
    • Communication
    • Journalism
    • Public relations
    • Any other relevant field
  • Have at least two years of professional experience in one of the following areas:
    • Communication and media
    • Journalism
    • Digital media
    • Audiovisual media
  • Have experience in fieldwork and emergency settings.
  • Be fluent in both Turkish and English.
