The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is offering a temporary position in Cairo, Egypt for a Social & Behavior Change Officer at the NO-1 level for a period of 364 days.
The position falls within the field of Social and Behavior Change (SBC), one of UNICEF’s key areas of work. SBC focuses on understanding the behaviors, social practices, and norms that affect the lives of children, families, and communities, and on designing and implementing interventions and programmes that contribute to better social and development outcomes.
Duties & responsibilities
- Support the planning and implementation of Social and Behavior Change (SBC) activities.
- Contribute to the design of interventions and programmes aimed at promoting positive behaviors and practices.
- Support the development of communication and community engagement plans.
- Contribute to preparing messages and materials tailored to target groups.
- Analyze data and information related to behaviors and social practices.
- Coordinate with different UNICEF teams, partners, and relevant stakeholders.
- Support the implementation of community-based initiatives and monitor their progress.
- Contribute to monitoring and measuring the results of Social and Behavior Change activities.
- Support the preparation of reports and documentation related to programmes and activities.
- Contribute to strengthening the participation of local communities in UNICEF programmes.
Eligibility criteria
- Be eligible to work in a national NO-1 position in Egypt.
- Have an academic background relevant to Social and Behavior Change or a related field.
- Suitable fields of study may include:
- Social Sciences.
- Sociology.
- Anthropology.
- Communications.
- Behavioral Science.
- Public Health.
- International Development.
- Or a related field.
- Have good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with communities and partners.
- Be able to analyze information and data and use them in programme design.
- Have skills in coordination, report writing, and teamwork.
- Demonstrate an interest in issues related to children, development, and community engagement.
- Be able to work in a multicultural environment and within the United Nations system.
