Library Specialist Wanted in Ma'an City: Opportunity to Join the Abdul Hameed Shoman Library Team

We strive at the Abdul Hameed Shoman Library to enrich our community by providing access to knowledge resources for everyone and expanding access to all governorates. As part of our efforts to enhance our services, we are looking for a library specialist to join our team in the city of Ma'an. The ideal candidate should be passionate about books and learning, possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and have the ability to conduct dialogues and discussions in a strong, clear, and fluent language. Additionally, they should be able to handle multiple tasks and be ready to assist library patrons.

Work conditions include morning and evening shifts and variable weekly holidays. The appointment is primarily in the city of Ma'an, with the possibility of commuting to work between branches of the Abdul Hameed Shoman Library as per work conditions or receiving practical training.

Providing support and guidance to beneficiaries on the easiest ways to access information or utilize library facilities and various resources including books, references, journals, and electronic materials.

Responding to beneficiaries' inquiries, following up on their affairs, and ensuring a positive image of the library and the institution as a whole.

Tracking loan services with beneficiaries and contacting them in case of any delays or other developments.

Following up on beneficiaries' inquiries about sources and references with the aim of expanding the library's holdings if they are not available based on repeated requests from beneficiaries, if any, and according to the library's and institution's policies in this regard.

Contributing to planning and implementing cultural and educational activities for library patrons.

Reading the books and references regularly provided to the library and organizing books, references, and journals in their proper place in coordination with the department head.

Working to maintain order in the library and preserve a positive atmosphere.

Evaluating library collections continuously based on direct interaction with beneficiaries.

• A university degree in Library Management or any related field.
• Advanced linguistic skills (both oral and written) in Arabic, with additional points for proficiency in English.
• Advanced organizational, coordination, and follow-up skills.
• Familiarity with the local and Arab cultural scene, with a strong belief in the role of libraries in communities.
• Knowledge of books across various topics and fields, with a genuine passion for reading and everything related to it.
• Flexibility and adaptability to changes.
• Experience ranging from 1 to 3 years in working in the cultural field.
