Opportunity description

The Department of Culture in Sharjah has announced the start of receiving applications from playwrights from the GCC countries to participate in the 2021 Sharjah Theatre Writing Award. As theater mirrors society, it is important that the reality of society is reflected in local theatres. These recommendations are consistent with the visions and guidance of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi Member of the Supreme Council of the Union and Ruler of Sharjah, and they aim to support and encourage innovators in the GCC area and extend bridges of communication with them to continue being creative and interactive with the cultural and theater media, the recommendations serve as an appreciation of writers and playwrights in the GCC area.

  • Participants should use the standard Arabic language or local dialect if called for by the dramatic construction of the script.
