2021 Izmit International Short Film Festival (IISFF)

Application for the 4th Izmit International Short Film Festival is now opened. Izmit International Short Film Festival (IISFF) aims to establish a short film festival tradition where it can contribute to the artistic development of young people and where art lovers can enjoy short films made by amateur or professional short filmmakers.

The 4th Izmit International Short Film Festival will be organized in "International" and "National" sections. Films in all 4 categories will be accepted in either section. This year's theme is "Pandemic” for “Festival Theme Category”. No theme limitation in fiction, documentary, animation, and experimental categories.

International Categories:

• Fiction: Any subject, minimum 1min, maximum length 41mins. Films must have at least one of the English dubbing or English subtitle options.

• Documentary: Any subject, minimum 1min, maximum length 41mins. Films must have at least one of the English dubbing or English subtitle options.

• Animation/Experimental: Any subject, minimum 1min, maximum length 41mins. Films must have at least one of the English dubbing or English subtitle options.

• Festival Theme: Only “Pandemic” themed films can apply to this category. Minimum 1min, maximum length 41mins. Films must have at least one of the English dubbing or English subtitle options.

National Categories:

• Fiction: Only Turkish subtitled or Turkish dubbed films produced by Turkish directors can apply. Any subject, minimum 1min, maximum length 41mins.

• Documentary: Only Turkish subtitled or Turkish dubbed films produced by Turkish directors can apply. Any subject, minimum 1min, maximum length 41mins.

• Animation/Experimental: Only Turkish subtitled or Turkish dubbed films produced by Turkish directors can apply. Any subject, minimum 1min, maximum length 41mins.

• Festival Theme: Only “Pandemic” themed and Turkish subtitled or Turkish dubbed films produced by Turkish directors can apply. Minimum 1min, maximum length 41mins.

International and national competition sections of "The 4th Izmit International Short Film Festival" will be prize money awarded to each category winners which will be determined as a result of the main jury evaluation.

“The 4th Izmit International Short Film Festival” Prize Categories are as follow:

International Section:

• Fiction Category: Money Prize

• Documentary Category: Money Prize

• Animation/Experimental Category: Money Prize

• Festival Theme Category: Money Prize

National Section:

• Fiction Category: Money Prize

• Documentary Category: Money Prize

• Animation/Experimental Category: Money Prize

• Festival Theme Category: Money Prize

• Participants are required to upload the following additional materials required for the festival to be accepted:

1. Teaser (If available)
2. Synopsis in English.
3. Stills From The Film (print quality 300 dpi)
4. Film Poster.
5. Director's Biography and Photograph.

• Fiction, documentary, animation, or experimental short films which were shot after January 1, 2018, may participate in The 4th IISFF. Films made earlier than this date will not be accepted.
• There is no limitation on the number of film applications for directors. Each film can apply to only one category.
• Films that have previously participated in other competitions or festivals can apply to The 4th IISFF. Films that have been finalists or have won an award in previous IISFF’s cannot apply to The 4th IISFF.
• First-degree relatives of pre-selection jury members, the main jury members, or the festival team of IISFF cannot apply to The 4th IISFF.
• After the Pre-Selection Jury evaluation, 5 finalist films will be determined in each category in international and national sections of The 4th Izmit International Short Film Festival. Finalist films will be announced on August 02, 2021.
• Only films that apply online at the FilmFreeway portal will be accepted to the festival. Other submission ways such as Wetransfer, Google Drive, etc. will not be accepted.
