2021 Xi'an Jiaotong University International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship

Xi'an Jiaotong University is offering International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship for the purpose of satisfying the growing demand of the international community for Chinese language teachers and facilitating Chinese language education in other countries.

• The scholarship provides full coverage on tuition fee, accommodation fee, living allowance (four-week study students are excluded) and comprehensive medical insurance expenses.
• The monthly allowance for one-academic-year and one-semester students is 2,500 CNY per person.

• Non-Chinese citizens.
• Be in good physical and mental conditions, and with good academic performance and conduct.
• Be committed to the Chinese language education and related work.
• Be between the ages of 16 and 35 (as of September 1st, 2021).
• Applicants currently working as Chinese language teachers shall not be over 45.

Required Documents:

• Photocopy of passport photo page.
• Photocopies of HSK, HSKK score reports (within the two-year validity).
• Recommendation letter written by people in charge at recommending institutions.
• Applicants under the age of 18 shall submit relevant legal documents of entrusted legal guardians in China.
• Applicants currently working as Chinese language teachers shall provide proof of employment as well as a reference letter by the employer.
• Non-criminal record (submit to university’s application system).
• Physical examination record for foreigner (submit to university’s application system).

About Xi'an Jiaotong University:

Xi'an Jiaotong University, a national key university under the direct jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education, is one of China's oldest institutions of higher learning. Founded in Shanghai in 1896 as Nanyang Public, it was renamed Jiaotong University in 1921. In 1956, at the direction of the State Council, the university was moved to Xi'an and renamed Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU). As one of the country's national key universities, it was included in the first group of universities singled out for high priority development under the country's seventh and eighth five-year plans. It was also included in the first group of universities to benefit from Project 211 and Project 985, with the goal of becoming a world-class university. Under a plan adopted by the State Council in April 2000, the original Xi'an Jiaotong University was merged with the Xi'an Medical University and the Shaanxi Institute of Finance and Economics to form the new Xi'an Jiaotong University.
