Opportunity description
The Wells Festival of Literature announces its 2025 literary competitions, open to everyone. The competitions include several categories:
Open Poetry Competition:
- Open theme.
- Poems must not exceed 35 lines.
Short Story Competition:
- Open theme.
- Stories should be between 1,000 and 2,000 words.
Book for Children Competition:
- For children aged 7 and up, including young adults.
- Submit the first three chapters or first thirty pages (whichever is shortest), along with a synopsis of up to two pages.
Young Poets Competition:
- Entrants must be aged between 16 and 22 (inclusive).
- Open theme.
- Poems must not exceed 35 lines.
All entries must be in English and must not have been entered into any other competition or published in any format.
Entry fees:
- Open Poetry Competition: £6 per entry.
- Short Story Competition: £6 per entry.
- Book for Children Competition: £6 per entry.
- Young Poets Competition: £3 per entry.
Prizes: Prizes vary by category and range from £1000 to £100.
