An Opportunity for Directors to Participate in the Sharjah Film Platform 2019 in the UAE

Sharjah Art Foundation invites filmmakers from all around the world to participate in the opportunity and submit their films to the Sharjah Film Platform, running from 11 to 21 December, 2019. Organized by Sharjah Art Foundation to support the flourishing art scene in UAE and MENA region, the platform provides emerging and established filmmakers, producers, critics and students with a place to voice their ideas. It has 3 main components: the curated film program and awards, the public program of talks and workshops, as well as the film premieres from the Short Film Production Grant. 

Rules:

All entries must have the following conditions:

1. All films must be original 
2. Only one film submission per director will be considered; multiple submissions will not be accepted
3. Only Vimeo and YouTube screeners will be considered
4. Submission is free and open to the public worldwide
5. Applicants grant the Foundation the right to screen the film publicly in the festival, use segments of the film for marketing purposes (advertising, publicizing and promoting the film in any media without time and territorial restrictions), as well as using names, photographs and/or biographies for marketing purposes 
6. All rights for the submitted film’s screening license must be obtained by the applicant
7. All copyright permissions, including those for music and footage must be cleared by the applicant prior to submitting the film for consideration
8. All films accepted to Sharjah Film Platform will automatically be considered for a juried award

Benefits:

Directors will be invited to the event that will take place in Sharjah at the foundation’s Mirage City Cinema, Al Mureijah Square, and the nearby Al Hamra Cinema. The films will be screened during the event and the Foundation will help give the winning films publicity within the MENA region.

About the Organization

Located in Sharjah’s historic Art and Heritage Areas, Sharjah Art Foundation activities and events take place throughout the year and include exhibitions featuring the work of Arab and international artists, performances, music, film screenings and artist talks as well as extensive art education program for children, adults and families. The Foundation hosts the annual March Meeting and every two years presents the Sharjah Biennial.
