Opportunity description
The Hawk's Well Theatre is calling all emerging poets from all around the world to participate in the The iYeats Poetry Competition 2019. The competition is an annual online international poetry competition which has won a prestigious reputation for the calibre of both entrants and judges. The competition is open to all those 16 years of age and upwards.
Prize
- General category: First Prize €500.
- Emerging category: €300 (aged 16 – 25 years).
Rules
- Only online entries will be accepted.
- Files with entries must be in Word format and attached to the online entry form. Word Limit of 40 lines
- Multiple prizes may be awarded to the same person.
- Poems must not have been published either in print or on a website, not be currently submitted or accepted for future publication. They must not previously have been awarded a prize in another competition.
- The General category competition is open to all entrants.
- The emerging poet category is confined to those aged between 16 and 25.
- No correspondence will be entered into once work has been submitted.
- Poems cannot be altered or changed after they have been entered.
- Copyright remains with the authors, but the theatre reserves the right to publish the winning poems. Copyright reverts to the author after one year.
- Payment must be made in Euros currency only. (€5 per poem or €12 for three).
- Your entry in the competition means you accept these rules.
About organization
The Hawk's Well is a 340 seat theatre in Sligo, North West Ireland. It hosts a diverse program of arts and entertainments including professional and amateur drama, a wide range of music from traditional and jazz to opera, plus dance, pantomime, children's theatre and comedy.
