Competition for Architects and Designers with INR 100,000 from Silk Matters

Silk Matters is proud to inaugurate the first Architecture Affiliate Awards to recognize the renaissance architects of our times. In a more nuanced sense, to promote the affiliated career opportunities for architects who want to do more than architecture, and recognize the many talents architects acquire through the course of becoming one.

Award Theme:-

• In our modern age, we are constantly adapting to the dynamism in our fields through multifaceted ways. One of its positive outcomes, especially in the field of architecture and design has been the increase in the number of alternative careers opportunities for an architect. There has never before been a time where one can witness such a diverse set of architects and designers. This has certainly elicited a new wave of multifaceted architects towards the re-birth of the contemporary renaissance.
• With this in mind, Silk Matters’ team of professionals work together strenuously to develop new opportunities for the design community through the Annual Awards program, organizing Competitions and publishing unique design content from all over the world through online media and magazine publications.

Award Categories:-

• Architectural Journalism.

  • Authors are required to choose any past/present/anticipated future issue in accordance with Architecture/Urbanism and address it in less than 1500 words. 

  • In order to encourage a diversified list of entries, authors have the liberty to write in any genre as they please, as long as they convey a clear definition of the chosen issue and a well structured solution or a path to finding the solution for the chosen issue.

  • For example:

    • Crime and Architecture.

    • COVID-19 and Urbanism.

• Architectural Photography.

  • This architectural discipline emphasizes on capturing photographs of architectural elements, structures, buildings and cityscapes. Architectural photography may have first taken off as a way to document buildings, but along the way, it has evolved into its own diverse art form. 

  • Capturing light and shade, solids and voids, buildings and activity in the most aesthetically appealing manner that conveys the narrative of the captured spaces in a single photograph.

• Architectural Visualization.

  • Drawing as an architectural tool serves not only as a means of communication, but through drawing we can also gain a deeper understanding of the subject. 

  • There is no doubt that digital culture has changed the way that projects have been designed and represented. A new age of technology that has created a shift from what architecture looks like to how it behaves.

• Architectural Modelling.

  • The role of model making in the architectural design process is irreplaceable. There has never been an architect who has not made a model during his career. 

  • Physical architectural models have served as great communication tools in representing an idea and in comprehending the spatial qualities of a design.
