<p>The Carmignac Foundation has opened the call for 11th edition of its annual photojournalism <a href="https://www.for9a.com/en/opportunity/category/Competitions-and-Awards" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong>Award</strong></a>. This edition is dedicated to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and to the human, social and ecological challenges it faces today. Though being four times the size of France, and having immense natural and mineral resources; DR Congo suffers from massive problems. Its literacy level is rising, but public health is in a state of abandonment, and violence towards women and children is endemic. Despite having the largest freshwater resource in Africa, it has the lowest level of access to drinkable water. It also tops the charts globally in terms of deforestation and the monopolization of land and raw materials.</p><h3><strong>Eligibility:</strong></h3><p>The award is open to photojournalists around the world.</p><h3><strong>The project:</strong></h3><ol><li>If your application does not meet the edition theme requirements &ldquo;The Democratic Republic of the Congo&rdquo;, your application will not be presented to the Jury.</li><li>The project you submit must be completely new, the grant cannot be used to &ldquo;finish&rdquo; any long term projects.</li><li>If it is a collaborative project, only one person can submit the application.&nbsp;</li></ol><h3><strong>The Selection of the Laureate:</strong></h3><p><strong>The process will take place in two stages: <br></strong>First, the pre-jury, made up of directors of photography, has the task of selecting between 12 and 15 proposals from those received. Second, the international jury, consisting of specialists in photography and in the given theme, choose a winning project. At the end of the selection process, the jury meets the winning photographer, in order to talk to him or her and, if necessary, to provide the support he or she will need throughout the duration of their project &ndash; from the preparation of the reportage to its final exhibition.</p><h3><strong>Prize:</strong></h3><p>The laureate will receive a &euro;50,000 <a href="https://www.for9a.com/en/opportunity/category/Grants"><strong>grant</strong></a> to carry out a 6-month field report with the support of the Fondation Carmignac, which produces, upon their return, a traveling exhibition and the publication of a monograph.</p><h3><strong>Supporting Documents:</strong></h3><ol><li>Short biography.&nbsp;</li><li>Exhibitions.&nbsp;</li><li>Awards.</li><li>Publications. Max 50mb, in addition to the team member&#39;s names in case it&#39;s a collective project.&nbsp;</li></ol><h3><strong>About the Carmignac Photojournalism Award:</strong></h3><p>In 2009, Fondation Carmignac established the Carmignac Photojournalism Award, it funds annually the production of an investigative photo reportage on human rights violations in the world. Selected by an international jury, the laureate receives an endowment of 50,000 euros, enabling them to carry out an in-depth reportage on the ground, with the logistical support of Fondation Carmignac.
