Opportunity description

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in Ethiopia is offering a journalistic scholarship within the project "A bridge to Africa". The project aims to support Africa to implement methods to make food production sustainable and secure against the background of the rapid population growth, climate change and its consequences. Applicants must be African journalists (print, TV, radio or Social Media, for instance Blogs) devoted to the possibilities of modern science to tackle great societal challenges.

The scholarship includes an invitation to a one-month stay at Forschungszentrum Jülich, one of Europe’s biggest research centers in the fields of information, energy and bio economy during Summer 2018. The scholarship also covers the costs for a one-week trip to Accra, Ghana, where the core activities of the project take place from November 26-30, 2018. For one week in Autumn 2018, young scientists from Ghana and other African regions will meet Geo-scientists from Forschungszentrum Jülich, to get in contact with the latest methods of modern geoscientific research, modeling and simulation with supercomputers.
