Dar5otot Detective Fiction Competition For Arab Writers

Dar5otot publishing house in Jordan has launched a detective fiction literary competition, to acknowledge the importance of this kind of novels for Arab readers, and to encourage creative writers to produce great stories and to drive interest in this literary field.

This edition will take on detective novels master, as you can guess it is “Agatha Christie”, who shaped the world of mystery and crime stories and ignited the imagination of millions of avid readers around the world.

Prizes

The best three novels will be published, and their writers will be awarded competition plaques, in addition to Dar5otot membership to host them in the future cultural programs.

Participation Terms and Rules:

1. Writers must be at least 18 years old.
2. ONLY novels written in standard Arabic will be accepted. As novels translated from other languages or adapted from classic novels will not be accepted.
3. Submitted novel must have all of the essential elements of linguistic integrity, otherwise it will be automatically excluded.
4. Novels that received previous other awards are not accepted.
5. Each writer can submit only one novel in this edition around.
6. The award is dedicated for detective fiction only, and other genres of literature such as short story and theatrical poetry collections, will not be accepted.
7. Entries that have been published in a book form are not accepted.
8. The volume of eligible novel should not be less than 20.000 words, and does not exceed 30.000 words.
9. In the event that the award committee found out that the winner has violated any of the aforementioned terms and rules, the award would be withheld from him/her.
10. Receiving entries via dar5otot website starts on 3/15/2021 and closes on 5/30/2021.
11. Dar5otot is the exclusive owner of the rights regarding dramatic or televised adaptations of the winning novels.
