<p>The Wellcome Foundation is offering the Research Career Re-entry <a href="https://www.for9a.com/en/opportunity/category/Fellowships">fellowships</a> in <a href="https://www.for9a.com/en/country/United-Kingdom">the UK</a> to offer the postdoctoral research scientists the opportunity to re-establish their scientific careers after a continuous break from research of at least two years. The fellowships are dedicated to researchers with a PhD or equivalent, and significant postdoctoral research experience, and people who want to return to a research career after a break of two years or more. The funding includes a salary and research expenses for up to &nbsp;4 years.</p><h3 dir="ltr">Eligibility:-</h3><ul><li dir="ltr">You can apply for a Research Career Re-entry Fellowship if you&rsquo;ve had a continuous career break of at least two years and you want to re-establish your research career.</li><li dir="ltr">Wellcome accepts career breaks taken because of family commitments, ill health and work outside of research.</li><li dir="ltr">You must have a PhD and postdoctoral research experience.</li><li dir="ltr">You should have started to make important contributions to your area of research before your career break, eg publications, patents, software development or an impact on policy.</li><li dir="ltr">You must have an eligible sponsoring organisation in the UK or Republic of Ireland that will administer the fellowship for the full duration of the award.</li><li dir="ltr">If you&#39;ve already been unsuccessful with a full application for this scheme, please contact Wellcome before you apply again.</li><li dir="ltr">You can only apply for one Wellcome fellowship at a time.&nbsp;</li><li dir="ltr">You can&#39;t apply to carry out activities that involve the transfer of grant funds into mainland China.</li></ul><h3 dir="ltr">Requirements:-</h3><ul><li dir="ltr">Wellcome will review:<ul><li dir="ltr">Your research contributions before your career break.</li><li dir="ltr">The quality and importance of your research question(s).</li><li dir="ltr">Your knowledge of the scientific area.</li><li dir="ltr">The feasibility of your proposal.</li><li dir="ltr">The suitability of your choice of research sponsor(s) and environments.</li><li dir="ltr">Your vision of how this fellowship will contribute to your career development.</li><li dir="ltr">The suitability of your proposed retraining.</li></ul></li><li dir="ltr">At the end of this fellowship you should have re-established your research career and be ready to lead your own independent research programme.</li></ul><h3 dir="ltr">Sponsorship Conditions:-</h3><ul><li dir="ltr">You must have a sponsor/research sponsor who&#39;ll offer you scientific guidance and a mentor who&#39;ll provide you with independent support and advice.</li><li dir="ltr">Sponsors/research sponsors and mentors should have strong track records in research and mentorship. They should view their support and mentorship of you as part of a longer-term commitment to help you return to a career in research.</li><li dir="ltr">Your sponsor must guarantee that you&#39;ll get the space and resources you need and this must be agreed at the application stage and made available from the start date through to the end date of your award.</li><li dir="ltr">You should give careful thought to your choice of research environment, sponsor and mentor.</li></ul><h3 dir="ltr">Benefits:-</h3><ul><li dir="ltr">A basic salary (determined by your host organisation).</li><li dir="ltr">A fellowship supplement of <strong>&pound;7,500</strong> for your personal support.</li><li dir="ltr">Personal removal expenses.</li><li dir="ltr">Research expenses.</li><li dir="ltr">Funds for relevant research retraining, eg for a skills or <a href="https://www.for9a.com/en/opportunity/category/Scholarships/Master">MSc</a> course.</li></ul><h3 dir="ltr">About Wellcome Trust:-</h3><p dir="ltr">The Wellcome Trust is a research-charity and an independent global charitable foundation based in London, in the United Kingdom.
