Opportunity description

Eco-generation of Samsung Engineering is proud to announce its amazing program for young students around the world, to be a part of the 2018 Junior Engineering Academy, to explore the environmental awareness activities. Winners will be given the opportunity to travel to Korea to attend the Junior Engineering Academy which includes specialist lecture, laboratory demonstrations and experiments, hands-on project, presentation competition and many other activities in order to advance their awareness on the role and commitment to energy efficiency, energy conservation, and mitigating energy-related impacts on the environment. Junior Engineering Academy program will be held this summer from in 6 to-10 of August, at Samsung GEC, headquarter of Samsung Engineering in Seoul, South Korea. The purpose of this program is:

[1] To raise awareness among youth within the community towards conservation of the environment and energy efficiency

[2] To grow future eco-leaders by enhancing global leadership resulting from participating in a variety of activities throughout the Academy.

[3] To fulfill the social responsibility through educating the future generation.

You must first create an account on the official website, and you can choose either to be a participant or a facilitator. To eligible for each category, you must:

[1] Participants: be between 14 and 16 years old

[2] Facilitator: be 18 or older years old

The roles and responsibilities of each category are as follows:

-Participants:

[1] Representing the country where they're from during the Academy.

[2] Actively participating in the programs and group projects.

[3] Following the instructions of the facilitator and staffs of the Academy for safety.

[4] Posting the experiences in the Junior Engineering Academy after returning back to their country within 3 weeks.

-Facilitator

[1] Planning, organizing, executing the Junior Engineering Academy in close cooperation with Eco-generation team.

[2] Coaching and mentoring for the participants of the Junior Engineering Academy

[3] Posting the experiences in the Junior Engineering Academy after returning back to their country within 3 weeks.


Successful applicants, both participants and facilitators will be provided with free flight tickets, meal allowances, and accommodations, where two winners shall share one twin room based on their genders. In case of Saudi Arabia and UAE, a guardian from Samsung Engineering or a global facilitator shall accompany the winners for the whole trip.

Eco-generation was established as one of the largest environmental education programs for children and youth in Korea. On September 27, 2011, Samsung Engineering and United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) wanted to reach an international audience by launching Tunza Eco-generation, a new environmental networking platform for children and youth. Tunza eco-generation is an interactive environmental website that will serve as a platform to educate the community about the environment and create eco-friendly initiatives.
