<p>The American University in Cairo is offering The Nadia Niazi Mostafa Endowed <a href="https://www.for9a.com/en/opportunity/category/Fellowships" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong>Fellowship&nbsp;</strong></a>in Islamic Art and Architecture is a competitive award offered annually to new or continuing Egyptian<strong>&nbsp;</strong>students enrolled in the <a href="https://www.for9a.com/en/opportunity/category/Scholarships/PhD" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong>graduate&nbsp;</strong></a>program in Arabic studies with a specialization in Islamic art and architecture who wish to pursue full-time study.</p><h3>Duration:</h3><p>Two semesters of full-time graduate study subject to renew for a second year based on the availability of funds.</p><h3>Responsibilities of Fellows:&nbsp;</h3><ul><li>A Teaching Assistantship mandatory training must be completed if the fellow is involved in teaching assistantship duties.</li><li>&nbsp;The training needs to be completed only once.</li></ul><h3>Responsibilities of Teaching Assistants:</h3><ol><li>Attend and observe classes of the course to which they are assigned.</li><li>Take attendance in classes, labs and in presence of the course instructor.</li><li>Run trials of the work to be carried out by students prior to the lab.</li><li>Support students in carrying out experimental and creative work in labs.</li><li>Assist in preparing answer keys for assignments, where applicable.</li><li>Assist in grading the quantitative components of the course, weighted assessments such as assignments, quizzes, reports and exams.</li><li>Assist in recording and calculating students’ grades.</li><li>Assist in uploading course material onto online course management tools (e.g. Blackboard).</li><li>Assist in preparing course material under the guidance of the course instructor.</li><li>Conduct revision, review, and problem sessions which do not require the introduction of new materials to students.</li><li>Lead in-class discussions and group activities which do not require the introduction of new materials to students.</li><li>Assist in proctoring quizzes and exams, in the presence of the course instructor.</li><li>Hold office hours.</li></ol><p><br></p>

<p>The fellowship covers:</p><ul><li>Tuition fees for a maximum of nine credits per semester.</li><li>Student services and activities fees.</li><li>Monthly stipend.</li></ul><p><br></p>

<ul><li>Open to Egyptian nationals</li><li><a href="https://www.for9a.com/en/opportunity/category/Scholarships/Bachelor" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Bachelor&nbsp;</a>degree with a minimum overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or equivalent</li><li>For continuing students; to retain the fellowship, the recipient must maintain a GPA of 3.2&nbsp;</li><li>Financial need</li></ul><h3>Eligibility of Teaching Assistants:</h3><ol><li>Hold a bachelor or master degree in a field relevant to the course(s) he/she would be supporting.&nbsp;</li><li>Have a GPA of at least 3.2 in the latest degree he/she holds.</li><li>Be competent in the field of relevance to the course(s) he/she would be supporting.</li><li>Have good English language skills and communication and interpersonal skills.</li></ol><h3>About the organization</h3><p>Founded in 1919, the American University in Cairo is a leading English-language, American-accredited institution of higher education and center of intellectual, social and cultural life of the Arab world.
