Opportunity description

VU Museum of Zoology is offering a volunteer opportunity for active volunteers who want to help. Volunteers will have a proactive role assisting the staff of the Museum team in the individual work of grouping, inventory and data entry to the database of scientific collections.

Requirements:

The volunteers must be:

  1. Self-motivated, willing to take new challenges, and open to working with people of all backgrounds and cultures.
  2. Dynamic, versatile, good mood, flexible, with self-initiative, experienced in a museum or scientific (biology) or designer-artistic or the media work.
  3. Able to manage and solve working tasks in a creative way.
  4. Enthusiastic to participate in the project; mature to work and to relate to a group of Museum community and willing to develop activities with responsibility.

Responsibilities:

  1. To be a helper of the scientists in the grouping of scientific material (Vertebrates or Invertebrates).
  2. Looking after scientific material after primary fixation at the time when they have to be prepared for long-term storage.
  3. To be a helper of the Museum staff in the inventory, documentation, digitization and data entry to the Museum database and Lithuanian Integral Museum Information System.
  4. To help create dynamics of occupation of free time activities for visitors of VU Zoological museum, through the realization of games and group work, thematic conversations, practical tasks or projects.

  1. The volunteer will be hosted in flat together with other volunteers in Vilnius.
  2. Each volunteer will have their own room.
  3. A monthly bus card will be provided.
  4. Volunteers will receive food and pocket money every month.

Training Period:

The volunteer will have an integration week organized by coordinating the organization. During the volunteer service, volunteers will also have On-Arrival and Mid Term training organized by the National Agency.
