Ó Bhéal invites poets from all over the world to participate in the International Poetry-Film Competition.
About The Competition:
Since 2013, Ó Bhéal has been affiliated with the IndieCork Festival of Independent Cinema & Music, to bring the Ó Bhéal International Poetry-film Competition, screening the shortlist of thirty films and awarding one winner the Ó Bhéal/IndieCork prize for best poetry-film. Shortlisted poetry-films since 2012 are also shown every week at Ó Bhéal, before the event begins. Poetry-film programs curated by Ó Bhéal have also appeared at Cyclops Poetry-Film Festival in Kiev and at the Clare Island Film Festival.
Competition Rules:
- Films must interpret, or convey a poem which must be present in its entirety.
- Films completed no earlier than August 2017.
- Films may not exceed 10 minutes in duration.
- Poet may submit as many entries as he like.
- Non-English language films will require English subtitles.
Required Documents:
Poet must include the following information in an attached word document:
- Name and duration of Film
- Name of the director
- Country of origin
- Contact details
- Name of Poet
- Name of the Poem
- Synopsis
- Filmmaker biography
- And a Link to download a high-resolution version of the film
If a poet is sending a Vimeo or youtube link, etc, then he must ensure that the download button is enabled.
About Ó Bhéal:
Ó Bhéal is Cork’s weekly poetry event, featuring poetry-films, a poetry challenge, guest poets. Ó Bhéal hosts the annual Winter Warmer poetry festival each November and curates two International competitions: The Five Words poetry competition and the Ó Bhéal/IndieCork International Poetry-Film competition.
