University of Tehran was officially ratified by the Iranian Parliament in 1934, and is now one of Iran’s leading modern universities offering a variety of disciplines. The international activities of the university have begun practically from its establishment within the framework of Office of Inter-Universities and International Relations. Based on academic ranking, the University of Tehran enjoys a very good academic position internationally.
The University of Tehran and Western Asian Desert Institute (WADI) in cooperation with Sabzgaman Beski NGO is offering young professionals and students of any nationality the opportunity to participate in the International Summer School “Educating for a Sustainable Environment” from July 1 to July 11, 2018 as part of an exchange program. The summer school consist of lectures, team working, walking tours, sport and cultural programs in addition to sightseeing excursions to natural and historical sites. Participants are expected to attend all lectures for the full duration of the program, participate fully in a group project and fulfill all related assignments and deadlines. They are also expected to spend some time working on group projects outside the scheduled sessions, and will be asked to leave the program otherwise. Provinces which will host the event will be Alborz, Tehran, Semnan, Gloestan, and Mazandaran.
Participants must be:
[1] Young professionals and students of any nationality
[2] 20 to 35 years old
[3] Able to communicate in English
[4] Interested in sustainable development and/or environment, ecosystem management and topics related to the theme: discovering desert, mountain, forest and aquatic ecosystems
[5] Obtainers of a visa from one of the Iranian diplomatic missions unless they come from one of the visa exempt countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bolivia, Egypt, Georgia, Lebanon, Malaysia, Serbia, Syria, Turkey and Venezuela), and all visitors must hold a passport valid for at least 6 months
Organizers will cover accommodation, all-day meals, refreshments and coffee breaks, tours, delegate pack (bag, notebook, pen, gifts and souvenirs), cultural programs and visits to historical monuments. Participants will also have the opportunity to attend lectures by international students, interactive discussions and immersive activities to explore Iranian culture and nature. There will also be the opportunity to interact with people from diverse nationalities, 2 night stays at national parks and forests and free access to sport facilities. Participants are expected to cover their travel costs to and from their home country, visa fees and insurance. There will be an exam to evaluate learning from the summer school and participants will receive a certificate containing names of lectures and the grade of the exam.
