Opportunity description
Siao-Long Cultural Park and Tsung-Yeh Arts and Cultural Center take as its theme the concept of Site-Specific Art for 2020. They welcome applicants who are interested in Interdisciplinary, Visual art, Performance and Photography. Siao-Long’s cultural park especially welcome artists to work on art projects which are related to the topic of sugar, candies or fairy tales from cultures all over the world.
Program Requirements:
During the residency, the selected applicants should provide one type of presentation, such as an exhibition or a performance. If you would also like to hold a workshop, this would be highly welcomed.
Approaching the end of the residency, the successful applicants are required to complete a report and questionnaire of the residency. The report should include details of the residents’ experience, the progress of the project and any relevant feedback.
- All applicants must be able to communicate in either English or Chinese.
Important Dates:
- Submissions from 1 July to 15 September 2019, 23:59 (Taiwan time).
- Examination in October 2019.
- Residence period:
- SCP: 1 May to 30 October, 2020.
- TAC: 3 February to 20 November, 2020.
Note: Each applicant can only be accepted for one term, the minimum residence is 45 days, with a maximum of 90 days per applicant.
Funding:
The residency opportunity will partly subsidize Living and working expenses in Taiwan (including personal income-tax and insurance) - with maximum 30,000 NT$ per month. The total amount will be paid in installments. Artists will receive payment directly, excluding any tax.
Presentation expenses - The maximum allocation is 100,000 NT$ (including tax), which will be paid directly to the relevant contractors. The above expenses include: providing a service or materials used in completing workshops, exhibitions and performances, flyer design and printing, translation fee, dissemination, and expenses for a press conference while any transportation fees for works are excluded.

Tsung-Yeh Art and Culture Center in Tainan City is the result of the fusion of an old sugar refinery with multicultural ideas to form a unique space. With years of effort, Tsung-Yeh Artist and Culture Center has established itself as a center for arts, crafts, and culture while producing valuable creative works in Tainan. Through providing the working space and encouraging resident artists to communicate with the locals, Tsung-Yeh hopes to promote this historical site not simply as a place for exhibitions, but rather an important gathering site for international arts and artists.
