Opportunity description

The Heinrich Böll Foundation grants scholarships to approximately 1,200 undergraduates, graduates, and doctoral students of all subjects and nationalities per year, who are pursuing their degree at universities of applied sciences (‘Fachhochschulen’), or universities of the arts. The scholarship recipients should have excellent academic records, to be socially and politically engaged, and to have an active interest in the basic values of the foundation: ecology and sustainability, democracy and human rights and justice.

Benefits

  • For undergraduates and graduate students: You will have an €850 per month plus various individual allowances.
  • For doctoral students: You will have a €1,200 per month, plus € 100 mobility allowance per month, plus various individual allowances.


Eligibility criteria

For Undergraduates and Graduate Students:

  1. This scholarship is available for a Master’s degree only. Proof of the first professional qualification must be provided.
  2. You should apply immediately before the commencement of studies.
  3. You should have a degree course at state-recognized universities in Germany.
  4. You must be in level B2 or DSH 2 (with certificate) in Germany.

For Doctoral Students:

  1. You should have a proof of admission to doctoral studies by a state-recognized university, as a rule in Germany, must be included with the application.
  2. The preliminary work must have been completed and a valid timetable for completion must be submitted.
  3. All subjects are included but PhD subjects related to focal points of the foundation’s activities will be given priority.
  4. You must be in level B2 or DSH 2 with a certificate.
