Cologne Graduate School of Research on Aging provides an effective and independent international research environment, dedicated to provide a modern and inspiring environment for young scientists. Cologne invites you to apply for it's competitive doctoral degree program, which serves as an international platform for those interested in science. This program is very selective so if you are an outstanding university graduate who wants to pursue a doctorate in the fields of aging and age-related diseases, this is your chance to become part of a vibrant international research community in the Cologne / Bonn region.

Eligibility criteria

  1. CGA offers positions in the areas of cell or molecular biology, biochemistry, biophysics, bioinformatics, bio engineering, pharmacology, neuroscience medical biology.
  2. It invites applicants with a Master's or equivalent degree of the above mentioned or related fields. 
  3. Applicants with a degree in medicine can apply but they must provide that they have sufficient relevant research experience. 
  4. Candidates must have an excellent written and spoken English skills (C1 level).
  5. Candidates are selected based on their academic qualifications and research accomplishments. 
  6. Up to 30 candidates will be invited to an on-site selection week. 
  7. Selected candidates can start their PhD position between July and October 2020. 
  8. All accepted students will be enrolled through the University of Cologne.

Program Overview:

CGA aim is to provide comprehensive training in the field of ageing research. It offers a unique curriculum with an emphasis on basic scientific logic, critical thinking, but centered on the exciting current research into the biology of ageing and age-related disease, combined with an individual career mentoring program.
