Opportunity description
To support innovative interdisciplinary research that reflects Colab’s future focused aspirations in such areas as gaming, entrepreneurship, smart materials, wearable tech, making and digital civics Colab will offer fees scholarships for the doctoral programme and domestic equivalent fees Scholarships for the MPhil program.
Selection criteria:
[1] The scholarships is open to domestic and international applicants.
[2] The scholarships are available on merit to New Zealand citizens, permanent residents and international students.
[3] Preference will be given to proposals in areas of interdisciplinary engagement pertinent to Colab’s aims and research focus.
[4] Applicants must meet the entry requirements for the PhD or MPhil program at AUT.
Requirements for the PhD:
[1] Master’s degree with honors, or Bachelor’s degree with honors (equivalent to 4 years of study).
[2] IELTS (Academic) 6.5 overall with 7.0 in Writing and no band less than 6.0.
Requirements of MPhil:
[1] One of the following degrees:
- Four-year bachelor’s degree.
- Bachelor’s honors degree.
- Bachelor’s degree and a postgraduate diploma.
- Bachelor’s degree and at least three years of experience relevant to the proposed program of research.
[2] IELTS (Academic) 6.5 overall with a minimum score of 6.0 in each band.
[3] May be required to complete an approved research methods paper.
Amount and type of the scholarship:
There will be up to two scholarships awarded. The PhD scholarships will consist of full fees while for the MPhil program, the fees will be domestic equivalent only.
When applying for this opportunity, the following documents must be submitted:
[1] Copies of transcripts for any study completed at an institution other than AUT.
[2] A copy of the Research Proposal (PGR1 or PGR2) that will be submitted as a component of the application for admission.
The applications will be reviewed and awarded by the Colab Postgraduate and Research Management team. Preference will be given to applicants who are able to commit full time to their research as they are more likely to make a higher contribution to Colab’s research culture.
Conditions attached to the acceptance of this scholarship:
[1] The recipient must accept the Offer of Place before the scholarships are taken up.
[2] The recipient may not hold other fees scholarships with this award.
[3] Recipients must submit all six monthly reporting for the doctoral program at AUT during the tenure of the award and move from provisional to full registration within the timeframe outlined in the Postgraduate Handbook.
