<p dir="LTR">The University of Copenhagen in Denmark offers a 2-year full-time postdoctoral position starting December 2020 or soon thereafter, in the project MICROGRID: A new generation of microfluidics-based methods to study genetic and functional effects of complex spatiotemporal gradients in tumor microenvironments.</p><h3 dir="LTR">About Research Project:</h3><p dir="LTR">The project is a highly interdisciplinary collaboration between four groups, located at the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science. The candidate will be based in Albin Sandelin&rsquo;s group but will work closely with the other groups, especially two postdoctoral fellows hired in parallel in the Falsig Pedersen and Marie groups. Together, the groups employ multiple postdocs, Ph.D. students, and undergraduate students and provide a strong, international research environment.&nbsp;</p><p dir="LTR">The tumor microenvironment fundamentally impacts tumor cell behavior, but cannot currently be accurately mimicked in vitro. This project will develop and apply a new generation of microfluidic devices that allow the constitution of spatiotemporally precise gradients of acidosis and hypoxia, key properties of the tumor microenvironment. The devices will be validated using fluorescent reporters and will be used to determine the phenotypic and RNA expression responses of tumor cells to the tumor microenvironment. The postdoc will be responsible for all work on this project in the Sandelin lab and for coordinating the close collaboration with the three other groups. In particular, the focus will be on optimizing methods to measure RNA expression from wells in the microfluidics device using spatial transcriptomics.&nbsp;Highlights from the lab include:</p><h3 dir="LTR">Eligibility Criteria:</h3><ul><li>A <a href="https://www.for9a.com/en/opportunity/category/Scholarships/opportunity" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Ph.D.</a> in a life science field.</li><li>Documented track record of strong scientific publications.</li><li>Excellent written and spoken English.</li><li>The candidate must be able to work autonomously as well as in a team and have a passion for working in a highly interdisciplinary environment.&nbsp;</li><li>The ideal candidate has a background in RNA/molecular biology and/or genomics and strong expertise in methods development in genomics. Expertise in biophysics, microfluidics, bioinformatics, and/or cancer biology is a large advantage.</li></ul><h3 dir="LTR">Funding:</h3><p dir="LTR">The starting salary is currently up to DKK 437.843 including annual supplement (+ pension up to DKK 74.871).
